Synergy

I founded Synergy Sessions because small business owners need a “safe zone” where they can go to learn and grow from one another and from experts who are there to truly help them.  You can’t effectively and efficiently (or shouldn’t) buy a business product unless you have some knowledge of that product or service.  Business owners don’t have time to know everything there is to know about internet marketing, social media, advertising, mass media, accounting products, or anything else they need to help their business operate or grow, but they need to know some basics before they buy.

You also need to learn from one another.  Why make the same, exact mistake that someone else has made if you can learn about it from them and save yourself time and money?

Synergy is not for everyone.  If you’re just starting out in business you probably don’t know what you don’t know so you think you know.  You’ve been thinking about opening your business for probably years and you have to get out there and try out your theories before you’re going to listen to anyone else.  Normally, start up business owners are looking for confirmation instead of information.  They were in the information gathering stage for a long time before they pulled the trigger and now they’ve got their business license and they’ve started the race.  There isn’t, usually, anything you’re going to say to them that will help them pick a better path.

Synergy is perfect for a small business owner who is past the start-up phase and is beginning to realize, or has a very clear understanding, of what it is that he/she doesn’t know.  In my experience, someone who has run or managed a business for 3 years or more is ripe and ready for real, workable, practical knowledge of things that they now know are harder than what they thought were going to be.  Things like making strong, collaborative relationships with other business owners that have the same target market.  Marketing and advertising their business.  Employee hiring and management.  The best way to go about expansion.  Self development and balance.

That’s why I created Synergy and am so greatful to Leonard Wheeler for supporting it.  If people like Leonard, or Tom Tanner with the Small Business Development Center, or Patti Dickerson and Steve Smith with SunTrust hadn’t believed in truly helping small business owners have a higher success rate by learning from one another, Synergy wouldn’t exist.

Synergy is not about having a million groups with a billion participants.  It’s about serving the small business community that is serious about growing their businesses and themselves.  It will evolve each year.  It will change.  It will be modified based on the data we collect from participants and a passion and desire to serve them.

By the way, if you really want to see what Synergy is about you should attend a session.  I can get you a guest pass to one, but honestly, I would pay the fee to attend.  It’s not expensive and you’ll value it more and show the other’s who have paid a level of respect that they’ll value from you.
